I am Swarna.Venkateswara Swamy, 58 years old, a physical metallurgist by qualification. I am also a seeker of the Self or Atma Jnan, so that this birth on the earth plane will, hopefully be the last! Only Bhakti and Prapatti (they are to be treated together) and/or Self-inquiry (inquiry into our true nature, Who am I?) will lead to true liberation from this endless cycle of death and rebirth. Born at Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh, in 1948, I now work and live in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. I am married and have two sons.
My interests are wide ranging, almost A-Z, of course in reading. Not very active physically, but mentally quite active. In fact, the problem seems to be how to stop the mind from being so active and how to meditate! Fairly keen intellect, a rather strong ego, but in face of true greatness or genuine love, willing to melt!
For the past few years, God in the form of Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi and Sri Bhagawan Ramana Maharshi of Arunachala and of course in many other forms is guiding me on the path of spiritual discovery, so that one day I do actually discover my true self, which is not different from His. I believe that we all are aptly named, i.e. with a purpose, to remind us of our true nature. This is especially true in India, where almost all babies are given names of some Deity or other. Venkateswara means who destroys sins. Once we realize our true self, and get freed from our ego, we also get free from sin or papam and of course, its counterpart, merit or punyam.
Na punaym, na papam, na moksham, na dukham... says Shri Adi Shankara in Nirvana Shatkam. All of us, I feel, should seriously and earnestly try to realize our true nature in this life! Hari Om. Sai Ram.
